Held

Effervescent lift
wrapped like strings
around your lips

Moves your aching heart
jigsawing
shattered pieces

The tinge of joy
overwhelms you
shimmying your withdrawn state

Individualized
you sit as one
in the corner of your own existence

Sensation
of touch upon your nerves
does not touch a nerve

But a heart
the lifeblood of which has laid stagnant
immovably absorbed into self

Gazing at your navel
pointing fingers from your stomach
bitter tasting thoughts

Captivated captive
held tightly by yourself
key long departed

Offender long departed
but a living gallery in your mind
never gone, not forgotten

Could you have forgotten
did you ever look to see
have you perhaps mistaken who sits helplessly

Once a victim
now a miser
holding tight to never let go

How the victim
becomes the miser
holding on to themselves
